The Interplast Holland missions to Ghana started in 1991. They were organised together with the National Catholic Secretariat, part of the Ministry of Health Care in Accra. The first Interplast team worked in the mission hospital in Battor.

A Burns Centre was set up in Accra in Korle Bu University Hospital with the support of the Scottish plastic surgeon Jack Mustardé. Besides Battor, Interplast Holland has also worked in the past years in Accra, Akwatia, Nkawkaw, Hwidiem and Dzodze.

Gradually the number of team missions was minimized. More organisations found their way to Ghana and the number of patients declined. For this reason the last mission for the time being took place in 2006.
